Eliademy is a top tutoring platform. What is E-Tutoring?

Being a private tutor and teaching online is a future proof job, so let us explain why and what you can do to be one.

The word e- tutor is used “to include academics, subject experts, facilitators, corporate trainers, instructors that undertake a role to support and enable students to learn effectively by using online tools.”

digital nomad

Traditionally a tutor will limit his services to a radius of 30 kilometers around his home base so he can minimize the time and expenses required to reach his student home. Now with Eliademy, tutors can expand and reach the whole world with just a few clicks and focused actions.

The main benefits of online tutoring versus in-person coaching are:

  • Flexibility in terms of time and location
  • Accessibility of content for student
  • A global market versus a local one
  • Convenience, is easier to help with homework
  • Track and reporting in more detail
  • Affordable

What the e-tutor needs to do?

As with the home tutoring service, an e-tutor should:

  • Be responsive to learner’s queries, with Eliademy this is done by emails or posting a discussion subject
  • Initiating activities, such our Quizzes, assessments or flash cards from our Edu Apps catalog
  • Provide feedback on tasks or allow Parent to be observer
  • Having a LIVE video chat for homework help

How can you start your tutoring service?

Eliademy provides all that you need to start your Math, English online and LIVE education service. Our good and international brand will help you to stand out in the Google search results and gain new customers. What you need to do is simple:

How to promote your online course?

What are the best practices to promote your online course and gain fame, spread knowledge or make some money?

Here is a list of our most favorite methods:

  1. Create a super good story

We are all story tellers, people read books, take online courses because the “story” or subject is good. Think like a story teller, the person around the camp fire that shares his knowledge to a group eager to hear and learn. So think! What is the story of your course?

Don’t just make up a story, make your course also valuable, if its not then it will come back and hunt you.

camp fire

  1. Create a video

Create a short video introduction of your course, what are the benefits for taking this course, how much time one should invest and why they should choose you? Tell the story and upload your video to youtube.com and vimeo.com

Add in the description keywords that will help people to discover your promotional video, add a catchy title, and don’t forget to place your link to your Eliademy.com course

  1. Use social media

Use your Linkedin profile to spread the course (allways have the link that points on your Eliademy course page) . Write a story don’t just place a link! Do the same in Facebook and visit relevant groups in Google+ . Remember people don’t want to see just a link, they want to read a short story. Our favourite is twitter but this will require that you find the right hashtags to capture attention. Copy with pride what others are using and doing and as you do you will get inspired on what to do better, but of course eventually you will get copied as well.

PS: Try Hootsuite to schedule the delivery of your stories. Repetition creates a good habit!

  1. Don’t forget the fundamentals

Offer something for free, a small version of your paid course can attract 100s of new customers and then you can upgrade them.

People do follow trends, so invite all your friends and family members to enroll to your paid course and give you feedback. Is easier to buy when people have reviewed your course and 50 others are enrolled already

  1. Make an audacious request

Don’t be afraid to ask an audacious request, learn to ask for support and help. Ask a famous blogger or expert in the field to review your course and write something about it to his blog. Follow forums and ask people to come and see what you have done. Do one think that scares you everyday and with solid commitment and focus your online course will be a success.

I hope you found this article helpful and you will start prompting your online course. Given the opportunity we would like to thank the good work and promotion that Sarah Haws did on her Behaviour Technician online course at Eliademy. Thank you Sarah, keep promoting actively your course and happiness and achievement will follow!

Case study: Illustrated Math Series

We rarely publish user reviews (they are public after all) but this most recent message really touched our entire team and we thought to share it with the community as a “case study”. We have started Eliademy 3 years ago as a social enterprise with a sole mission – make e-learning tools available for anyone for free. As the time passed, we have to admit we are far from being perfect, but we are still committed to doing our best to become the best platform for educators and students around the world. The following text is provided without modifications and can be also found at our Facebook review page.

Syed_HashmiIt is not that the moment I saw Eliademy, I fell in love with it, no, no, no, absolutely not. My deep respect and sincere love for Eliademy are carefully assessed based on an accurate evaluation through continuous research on the internet plus my constant interaction with Eliademy team over a long period of 4 years.

I am a professional Educator & Author with more than 43 years of experience in teaching the global curriculum in mathematics, physics and chemistry (including the K-16 US and Canada). I was looking for a resourceful but inexpensive or free simple e-learning platform for multiple reasons. I restlessly searched on the internet and found only two platforms which appeared to fulfill my needs exactly the way I was looking for (1) Udemy (2) Eliademy.

I decided to start with Udemy since it was being advertised a lot as “the largest platform”. I emailed them and got the response immediately with all the assistance I could have possibly needed. I was about to settle down with Udemy for good, but in the meantime, some very troubling facts started to emerge through reviews on Google, about policies on course pricing and sharing between the author and the platform. I then sent a very detailed e-mail to the then CEO to have a clear idea about the price sharing. After a reasonably long period of time without any response, I sent a reminder to both the CEO and the president of Udemy which was ignored. I concluded that Udemy was focused on the exploitation of intellectual talents in the name of democratization of education. It was a shock to me.

Next, I e-mailed Eliademy. They immediately responded and assigned a very talented and dynamic employee Jose to assist me through all the means available. As the time kept passing by my faith in Eliademy grew stronger and stronger. I feel now that Eliademy is the most truthful team with the pure and honest passion for “democratizing education with technology” – making e-learning tools available to everyone with crystal clear transparency without any tricks from their sleeves.

I would like to say thanks to entire Eliademy team who had kindly demonstrated their patience, generosity and care towards their clients. Long live the cause of education and the honestly true promoters of this cause.

Syed Hashmi, M.Sc, CEO at Illustrated Math Series

Students can now receive Printed Certificates for online courses on Eliademy

We are glad to announce a new functionality of Eliademy: you now have the opportunity to earn a Printed Certificate delivered right to your place, upon completion of an online course on Eliademy.

“This is one more service offered to our global community of learners and teachers. In the future we will bring more ecosystem services in order to fully transform education into a pure digital service” says Sotiris Makrygiannis, CEO of Eliademy/CBTec Oy.

While we already offer students to get free online certificates, this new functionality aims at providing you with a more tangible proof of your accomplishment. It “bridges yet another gap between online and offline education”, as Vitaly Repin, CEO of Metida Print AB Oy, supplier of Eliademy’s certificates. The printed certificates are mostly useful for learners who want a proof that they have acquired new personal and professional skills, through an online course. For example, they can easily be shown during an interview. They will contain serial numbers, protected by watermarks and holographic technology and can be printed with the Providers Logo and original signature. All LinkedIn digital certificates and PDF versions will remain free for those who do not need or want a paper copy.

This new functionality is offered to all courses but it is up to the instructors to activate it in two clicks from the settings of their course. The Printed Certificates are available at a small cost for students.

Students can earn Printed Certificates for Online Courses on EliademyIf you are Instructor on Eliademy, consider offering your students to earn a Printed Certificate. It may be very useful for them and truly contribute to boosting their career!

The importance of OER online courses in the democratization of education

“Open Educational Resources (OER) provide a strategic opportunity to improve the quality of education as well as facilitate policy dialogue, knowledge sharing and capacity building.” (UNESCO, [1])

Eliademy recently started crowdsourcing OER (Open Educational Resources) online courses in order to democratize education worldwide. OER are educational resources such as texts, images, videos, assignments, courses, etc. which are freely accessible to anyone and can be used to teach and learn. They can be part of the public domain or released under a license allowing free use, adaptation and distribution. According to the OER Research Hub, teachers notably share OER in the format of videos, images, lesson plans and quizzes [2]. Online courses are also increasingly released as OER, even if they are still only a few. This trend represents a huge progress in the democratization of education for a number of reasons.

On Eliademy teachers can offer their courses as Open Educational Resources.

How to create a great online course?

Creating a great online course: art or science? At first, creating an online course may seem difficult but with some experience you understand that you just need to know a few good practices and above all to adapt to your learners. As for good classroom-based courses, the secret is to always take a learner’s point of view and ask yourself: “Would I like to be a student in my course?” A learner wants to discover new interesting things easily. Therefore, two criteria define a great online course: user-friendliness and good content.
