Last week we silently added one small icon to our super friendly course editor. The new icon (A sound/speaker icon) enables you to add and stream Audio directly from your course.
Why is such small addition significant?
Most of the 36.000 courses hosted on Eliademy contain Videos, text, and images. We looked into the data and we decided that Audio, as an educational object, is missing from the majority of the courses.
So today we are enthusiastically proud to announce that you can add Streaming audio to your online course and not only in a single way. In order to educate our user base of 25.000 teachers, we decided as well to create a course to inform you on how to properly use this new small addition of our editor.
To make the news even more exciting, we are happy to announce that now you can use over 15.000 Free audio books (Librivox.org) as learning objects into your courses.
All those books are classic masterpieces of human literature that have been liberated from commercial license because they are old (prior of 1921) . In the above-mentioned course, we provide information on how to use and stream those books directly to your students by using Eliademy.
Now, you have the opportunity to teach spoken English, check comprehension or simply place a seed of a good habit to your students. We hope you use it to the maximum.
We are thrilled to announce and to bring to your service an update on Eliademy webinars. The update includes performance improvements but also the following additional functionalities:
Polling. Now you can do live polls with all your students that are participating in your Live courses. You can ask questions and your students can vote instantly. You can preconfigure the polls and see the results in real time. We recommend this functionality in order to get instant feedback about the quality of the session or for validating comprehension by the students.
Improved video streaming. The quality of streaming videos have improved but also the graphical interface now is also improved, giving you space to include more students to your online teaching class.
Emoticons. Yes, you are reading right, we have added Emoticons so everybody now can share their feelings , if they choose to do so, with the rest of the class. Who said that you cannot have fun when you are teaching live online?
Performance and security. Low on internet bandwidth and losing connection? No problem, now the client will automatically reconnect to the session so you won’t loose a minute trying to do it manually. Plus a dozen of minor fixes that will improve stability and the overall performance of your experience. Geeks out there: your webinars run over HTTPS, so come over and make a pass through the wormhole by making your session a Live Learning experience.
Why pay for expensive Adobe Connect, WebEx and multiple tools to deliver your courses? With Eliademy Premium you can do all that and much more.
In addition to default certificate of completion, instructors can now upload a fully custom certificate template for each course.
When you open Course/Certificate tab, you will see a new option on certificate type field – “Custom Certificate”. Choosing it allows you to upload with your own template. For the best results, please use the following parameters:
File type: PNG (better) or JPEG
Size: up to 10 Mb
Orientation: both portrait and landscape
Resolution: 150 dpi, 2000 pixels height or width
After uploading, you will be asked to indicate where student name and course completion date should be printed (allow some space on the template). Please note, your certificate template should include:
Organization name and logo
Instructor name and signature
If you teach multiple courses, you will need to create several copies of the template with different course names. Once the custom certificate is configured, each student to whom you issue a certificate will receive a custom certificate by email, will be able to add it to LinkedIn and order a printed copy (if you enabled this option).
Like always, we’ve got more exciting product news coming. Please keep your eye on the Eliademy Blog or follow @eliademy. Thanks for using Eliademy!
As of today, Eliademy Premium is used by over a thousand of NGOs, public schools, and commercial organizations. Today we are launching a better version of administration interface which makes managing team members, students and enrollments much simpler.
The biggest change is an addition of separate roles, once you open user management screen you will see 2 distinct lists. “All people”, a list which collects all registered Eliademy users who ever attended any of your courses. And “Organization team”, a list of user with special roles:
Account owner can see and modify any course created by this team
Administrator can see and modify any course created by this team, but can’t access billing interface
Observer (or Teaching Assistant) can see any course created by this team, but can make changes only in courses they teach
Organization instructor can see only courses they teach, don’t have access to admin interface
As before, courses created by any team member are automatically linked with your organization and may be delivered as private. Roles can be changed anytime by a group administrator. Among other changes:
Admins can see a status of each sent invitation (delivered/opened) and resend it if a recipient was not able to receive it.
My Courses tab for account owner and admin displays only courses where those users have explicit roles as an instructor or student.
Organization Courses tab displays a list of public and private courses created by users of an organization. This list is visible to account owner, administrator, and observer.
Roles can be assigned upon sending and invitation to join the team.
Administrator can create custom groups for all users (not only team members) and see at once all users not yet assigned to a group.
Administrator can duplicate or jump directly to any course from “Manage Enrollments” screen.
Administrator can easily enroll already registered user without sending them a course invitation.
Theses changes are available for all Eliademy Premium users starting today. Please let us know what you think about them.
If you still don’t use Eliademy Premium, you can give it a try with 30 days free trial. Please note, if use Eliademy as NGO or public educational organization you can apply for an academic license.
Thank you for the outstanding amount of feedback, improvement ideas and encouragements. We are really proud to have such an active and supportive community.
Even though June is official end of a study year, we still got aver 200 message from you with various ideas for improvements via UserVoice. Thus we made June or official “improve everything” month, in particular we:
Set all embedded videos to fill the with of the page – you don’t need to adjust size of any embedded video manually to make it look great
Improved export grades functionality with unicode support (if you teach in Mongolia, Russia, Taiwan or any other country with non-latin alphabet)
Added HMTL anchoring functionality to visual editor
Simplified submitting answers UX
Introduced simple visual cues to separate open courses from private ones
Optimized performance of user management and mass enrollment for premium users
This all seems to have a great effect on your satisfaction. During June we got the following messages about Eliademy:
We are glad to announce a new functionality of Eliademy: you now have the opportunity to earn a Printed Certificate delivered right to your place, upon completion of an online course on Eliademy.
“This is one more service offered to our global community of learners and teachers. In the future we will bring more ecosystem services in order to fully transform education into a pure digital service” says Sotiris Makrygiannis, CEO of Eliademy/CBTec Oy.
While we already offer students to get free online certificates, this new functionality aims at providing you with a more tangible proof of your accomplishment. It “bridges yet another gap between online and offline education”, as Vitaly Repin, CEO of Metida Print AB Oy, supplier of Eliademy’s certificates. The printed certificates are mostly useful for learners who want a proof that they have acquired new personal and professional skills, through an online course. For example, they can easily be shown during an interview. They will contain serial numbers, protected by watermarks and holographic technology and can be printed with the Providers Logo and original signature. All LinkedIn digital certificates and PDF versions will remain free for those who do not need or want a paper copy.
This new functionality is offered to all courses but it is up to the instructors to activate it in two clicks from the settings of their course. The Printed Certificates are available at a small cost for students.
If you are Instructor on Eliademy, consider offering your students to earn a Printed Certificate. It may be very useful for them and truly contribute to boosting their career!
